Washing is now truly smart and comfortable. ID one is a washing machine interface specialized on user workflow and efficiency.
With ID one. you can use shortcuts for a faster washing setup, a night mode, a timer and the so- called comfort step for opening the laundry drum without using your hands. Also reduced information layers were used to contain overview over the different programmes.
For user centred design, it’s important to be clear about the actual problem. We met possible users and their current problems. We asked how their perfect washing machine would look like, if there were no limits.
Iterate your first concepts again and again to get closer to the users ideas. Use inspiration from other environments. In the process more and more unnecessary information were removed.
Build fast prototypes with the essentials only to get a feeling for size and interaction areas. Test these permanently to adapt. We also made sure to get the right feeling for the tangible parts of the interface using simple household objects to create fast prototypes.
